TUESDAY CONNECTIONS and Events

Generally…Tuesday Connections is every Third Tuesday of the Month from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center.

May is Senior Appreciation Month!

In May we celebrate Senior Appreciation Month, joining with the government’s Administration for Community Living as it leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month. The 2024 theme is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. This year’s theme is relevant to what Friends of the Bolton Seniors has been doing for over ten years through Tuesday Connections. These monthly informative and entertaining programs which are followed by lunch are designed to bring Bolton’s seniors together in a social setting, knowing that studies have shown that seniors who participate in group activities experience improvement in their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and mental well-being.

May 1st

April showers bring May flowers…and May Day baskets for Bolton seniors age 85 and over. Created by the second-grade classes at the Florence Sawyer School, these thoughtful and creative baskets with personalized notes are delivered to over 50 seniors by volunteers.

NEXT: May 21st from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at the Senior Center

“Tales of Wisdom for Young and Old.” This one-person performance by George Capaccio weaves five tales and stories of Jewish, Italian, Sufi, and British origin, bringing together the culture, history and values of different peoples. Some of these folktales are based on George’s recent interest in Middle Eastern folklore and culture.

George Capaccio has performed in many of Boston’s theaters, including the American Repertory Theater. His performing career also includes working as a professional storyteller for audiences of all ages. For several years, he acted with the Museum of Science’s Science Theater, where he performed in the Planetarium as Galileo and in the Theater of Electricity as Nikola Tesla, in addition to acting in a play celebrating the scientific genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. For many years, he brought his love of stories and of performing to public schools in and around Boston where he worked as an artist educator for grades K-8. George has presented before at the Senior Center in his portrayal of Albert Einstein. “

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Bolton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.”
