The Town of Bolton, Massachusetts, invites committed and qualified candidates to apply for the position of Town Administrator. Bolton is primarily an agricultural and residential community of approximately 5,000 located 45 miles west of Boston and 22 miles east of Worcester along I-495. The Town is governed by an open Town Meeting and a three-member Board of Selectmen. Position responsibilities include general administration; coordination of short- and long-range planning efforts; contract negotiations; management of human resources; facilitation of commercial development; budget management; participation in the formulation and implementation of policies, objectives and programs; and effective two-way communication with all levels of local government as well as with citizens of the town. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required along with municipal experience in a position of responsibility. A Masters degree is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have broad knowledge of municipal government, state regulations, technology and planning as well as the ability to lead a team and to work independently. Candidates must also possess strong communication, problem solving, political and decision-making skills. Salary range is dependent upon experience and qualifications. Inspector of Buildings |
Bolton is seeking a part-time (approx. 15 hrs/wk) Inspector of Buildings to perform inspections, hold office hours (morning, evening and Saturday a.m.) and attend public meetings as needed. Primary duties are enforcing the State Building Codes, local Zoning Bylaws and any state statutes. Must be certified as Inspector of Buildings by the State, 5 yrs. exp supervising construction, AA degree pref. or equiv education and experience. Hrly range is $24.61 - $32.12. The Bolton Public Library seeks a dependable, organized person to work at the circulation desk on Saturdays. Primary duties include checking materials in and out, answering phones, and assisting library users. Schedule for this position is Saturdays 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (5 hours per week). This is a permanent, part-time position with no benefits. Starting wage is $15.53 per hour. This position requires flexibility in scheduling; PC experience; and comfort working with the public, including the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information. Experience with Innovative Interfaces software and/or C/W MARS network is desirable, but we will train the right person. Appointment is contingent on satisfactory CORI check.
